Melbourne - The World's most livable city has more than one gem. Today I met Louise Macdonald Melbourne Milliner. Louise Macdonald is beyond doubt a rare gem. Her Studio is in the beautiful Art Deco Nicholas Building in Swanston Street, downtown Melbourne Australia. So central! After chatting with Louise I could see she is someone who connects easily with people and happy to adjust her masterpieces to make sure they look amazing on you. Each one of Louise's millinery masterpieces, is an art piece. No wonder she is such a big player on the millinery world stage. I had to try these hats on and have a few photos taken of course. This was such a wonderful experience. I even found some millinery creations in my favorite colours!!
As I have a rather textured hair style I was not sure how I would be able to do any of these creations justice. However the pieces I tried on were dramatic, creative and comfortable. How did that happen? Normally I would try on quite a large number of hats before I would be in any way happy. With over twenty years of millinery experience and thousands of handcrafted hats created, Louise Macdonald is one of the World's best milliners and tutors.
If you are a horse racing aficionado you will know Melbourne is one of the Spring Racing Carnival meccas. We are in the grips of horse racing fever now leading up to the Melbourne Cup which is run on the first Tuesday in November. The world's richest race is run over 2 miles since 1861. Horse racing is so big here, we have a public holiday so we can go and watch! Fashion in the field is always a big part of racing and this year Louise has again been a winner. Yesterday her Fascinator won 1st runner up at the Caulfield Cup. "Lucky green hat!"
Louise Macdonald recommends that your headpiece should suit your personality and you need to find a hat that is in proportion with your face and height. Having Louise give her expert advice on the best way to wear the headpiece she designed is the best part of the experience. You walk out knowing you have the hat and it will attract second looks for the right reasons.
Louise Macdonald is all about Elegant and Quirky styled pieces that relate well to the head. Her signature style is having flow and movement in her International Award Winning Designs. I had a great chat with Louise about the whys and hows of blogging. It was great catching up with Louise! If you live in Melbourne you have the added benefit that she runs classes and you can get to know the woman under the hat and her secrets.
I love them!
