I'm in the mood for...... Sewing up a Storm
Living means …. getting older and the alternative to getting older means … no more sewing for me … as far as I know!
Sew the day is fast approaching where I step into the 60’s. How did that happen? Talk about time flying when you are doing what you love.
I've been excited thinking about having a wardrobe reset … my mind has been racing with ideas.
I want more from my wardrobe.
Looking through my Pattern collection and spending time with my fabric has given me a new focus, a desire for details that need to be on the garments I'm wearing.
I want to break free from my 50s and get up and dance in my 60s even though I have 2 left feet!
Sew I'm going to explore a few different styles and see how they make me look and feel?
I have all that I need: fabric, patterns, notions & ideas and have a camera so I’m going to share my journey with you.
The elements that I can't get out of my mind that I know are quintessentially me include: asymmetry, texture & colour …
I'm going to revisit my basic colour columns & play with casual wear, outer wear, fur, knits, boiled wool, scuba and a whole lot more.
Living in an Aladdin's Cave of Creativity..the buffer zone to the outside world ... the world that has been changed by Covid but we are still left with options to make the good, better, best!
I'm choosing best!
How is it that the longest journey of the day is to the sewing machine? How is it that this shortest distance be fraught with so many obstacles? Why does it take soooo long???
Yes time evaporates …How many times have you said I just want to finish putting this zip in or just let me finish this hem and I am done..
Everything takes 3 times longer than you anticipate. What sort of time warp are we in?
Whyyyyyy??? It can be so disheartening!
Well time flies when you are in your creative space. So I'm fitting a seatbelt to my sewing chair. Once I'm in the sewing space I'm staying as long as I can! Covid or Earthquake? I don't care! I'm sewing!
Keeping the fridge full, meals organised, washing and ironing done, work ... everything done so we can sew.. be creative & have fun!
Commitments need to be dealt with.
The whole game is about getting back to the sewing machine and keeping everyone happy at the same time ... not too happy though - there is A LOT of SEWING to be done after all!
All for the love of creation ...
And Sewing is good for the soul. So good!
Streamlining the boring but necessary jobs is imperative. I really don't want to spend a whole week preparing for a dinner party.... manic cleaning, shopping, testing recipes, setting tables, cooking and finally eating!
Oh let's not forget the next day clean up...
A great time has been had but these memories can't be worn. I used to do the dinner parties often. I don't do them so often. I love tasty, healthy food that is quick to make and satisfying for the soul. My dad was a Chef and he had a few secrets...and so do I!
Good food with flavour, texture, and easy to prepare is how I cook now. All in the name of getting into that sewing room sooner and for longer. Quality time with me and my fabric.
My bags are packed I'm ready to go … see you later 50’s In the rear view mirror!
I’m standing here..Outside my sewing room door ready to jump in and sew the 60’s wardrobe I've been dreaming about.
Why don't you come along with me on this journey of a lifetime and Subscribe to my Blog! I’m not having a dress rehearsal!
